Updating the unit’s firmware using a USB flash drive

If the unit is not connected to the Internet, or the Internet connection speed is slow, update the firmware using a USB flash drive. Operate the unit using the front panel while looking at the front display.

Use a USB flash drive that meets the following requirements:

  • Mass storage class compatible
  • Format is FAT16 or FAT32
  • No encryption function
  • Does not contain any files (currently empty)
NOTICE
  • Do not operate the unit or disconnect the power cable or network cable during firmware update. If the firmware update is interrupted, there is a possibility that the unit will malfunction. In this case, contact your nearest authorized Yamaha dealer or service center to request repair.
  1. Download the firmware.
  • For details, visit the page for this product on the Yamaha website.
  1. Expand the downloaded compressed file.
  1. Copy the firmware file that’s named in the format of “000xxx-xxxx.bin” onto the USB flash drive.
  • Copy the file into the top folder (root folder) of the USB flash drive. Do not rename the file.
  1. Insert the USB flash drive into the unit’s USB jack.
  1. Touch MENU (CONNECT) on the front panel.
  1. Use SELECT/ENTER to select “Settings” > “Firmware Update” > “USB Update” > “Execute”.
  • The firmware update will begin. Be sure not to turn off the power during the update.
  1. When “UPDATE SUCCESS PLEASE POWER OFF!” appears on the front display, press z on the front panel.
  1. Remove the USB flash drive from the USB jack.
  • The firmware update is now complete.
NOTE
  • After the firmware update is finished, wait about 5 seconds before turning the unit’s power on.
