Setting lip sync

You can set the lip sync to correct timing discrepancies between video and audio output.

Setting the lip sync adjustment method

“Sound” > “Lip Sync” > “Select”

Settings

  • Manual: Manually adjusts the timing difference between video and audio.
  • The value entered under “Adjustment” is applied as the correction value.
  • Auto: Applies the lip sync value set on the TV.
  • This is available only when the product is connected via HDMI to a TV that supports automatic lip sync correction.
  • You can fine-tune the correction time under “Adjustment”.

Adjusting dialogue volume

You can adjust the volume of dialogue when it is difficult to hear. The higher the level, the more the dialogue is emphasized.

  • dB: Displays the volume in decibels (dB).
  • 0-97: Displays the volume as a numerical value (0–97).

Setting the dynamic range adjustment method

You can set how the dynamic range (difference between maximum and minimum volume) is adjusted during playback of Dolby Digital and DTS signals.

Settings

  • Maximum: Plays back the input signal without applying any correction.
  • Standard: Plays back with a dynamic range suitable for typical home use.
  • Min/Auto: Plays back with a narrower dynamic range that makes audio easier to hear at night or at low volume levels.

Setting the maximum volume

You can set the maximum volume that can be adjusted using the VOLUME keys on the remote control.

Setting the power-on volume

This is used to select whether to fix the volume level when the power is turned on.

  • Off: Uses the volume from the last time the power went into standby.
  • Mute: Mutes the volume.
  • -80 dB to +16.5 dB (0.5 to 97): Uses the specified volume. Enabled only when the volume is set lower than “Max Volume”.

Synchronizing the volume of the Main zone and ZoneB

You can set whether ZoneB’s volume is adjusted in sync with the Main zone.

  • Sync.: Adjusts ZoneB’s volume in sync with the Main zone.
  • Async.: Does not sync the volume of Main zone and ZoneB.

Setting Speaker Virtual

This is used to select whether to use Speaker Virtual when the sound mode is set to “MOVIE”, “MUSIC”, “NIGHT” or “STRAIGHT”.

When Speaker Virtual is enabled, audio signals intended for unconnected speakers are processed virtually and output from the connected speakers.

  • On: Enables Speaker Virtual.
  • Off: Disables Speaker Virtual.
  • Audio signals intended for unconnected speakers are down-mixed and output from the connected speakers.

To play back using DTS Virtual:X

When “Speaker Virtualization” is set to “On”, audio is played back using DTS Virtual:X only when a DTS signal is input.

To play audio using DTS Virtual:X, do not set “Height” in “Speakers” > “Configuration” > “Power Amp Assign”. Instead, configure a 5.x / 4.x / 3.x / 2.x channel setup.
