Enjoying AURO-3D®

AURO-3D provides an immersive and natural “vertical sound field” through its unique speaker-placement structure that surrounds listeners. To get the most from your AURO-3D speakers, follow the next instructions for speaker installation and setup.

Installing front and rear presence speakers (recommendation)

In addition to a standard 5.1-channel or 7.1-channel speaker system, install front and rear presence speakers ().

NOTE
  • To get the maximum effect from AURO-3D, it is recommended to install the presence speakers on the walls in both the front and rear (according to the Auro Technologies company’s recommended setup). However, AURO-3D can also be played if the speakers are installed on the ceiling or if Dolby Enabled speakers are used.
  • AURO-3D can also be played even if only front presence speakers are installed.
  • In the case of a 2-channel to 7.1-channel speaker system (without presence speakers), playback will be by Auro Surround with Auro-Matic upmix.

Selecting a Surround Decoder

To play AURO-3D, you need to manually set the surround decoder to “AURO-3D” ().

NOTE
  • AURO-3D playback of the AURO-3D signal sent by PCM is also possible when the surround decoder setting is “Auto”.

Setting the AURO-3D Decoder

Use the “Setup” menu to configure each setting for the AURO-3D decoder ().

Playing back AURO-3D content

Play AURO-3D compatible Blu-ray discs on an HDMI-connected BD player.

AURO-3D” is recommended as the “AURO-3D Listening Mode” setting ().

  • CINEMA DSP cannot be used at the same time when playing AURO-3D.
