Part names to remember



Before assembling the instrument

Use a cloth to wipe off any dirt or dust from the ends of the headjoint, body, and footjoint.

When holding the instrument, avoid applying any pressure to the keys or lip plate.

         

Assembling the instrument

While being careful not to grip any of the keys or lip plate, twist and slide the headjoint into the body.

Pull the headjoint out of the body by roughly 5 mm for tuning purposes.

Adjust the orientation of the headjoint and body so that the marks on each component align will align with each other.

     


While being careful to avoid pressing any of the keys, twist and slide the footjoint into the body. Adjust the orientation of the body and footjoint so that the key posts on the footjoint align will align with the center of the keys on the body.

        

Setting the instrument down

Set the instrument on a stable surface with the keys facing up.

Storing the instrument

While being careful to avoid pressing any of the keys, twist and pull the headjoint out of the body, and then place the headjoint in the case.

In the same manner, twist and pull the footjoint out of the body, and then place it in the case along with the body.

Maintaining the instrument

After playing, wipe off any moisture from the tube components or pads.


・ Maintaining the tube components

1.   Pass a corner of a piece of gauze through the slot at the tip of the cleaning rod.




2.   Wrap gauze around the cleaning rod so that the tip is completely covered.




3.   Slowly turn the rod in the direction of the wrapping to wipe off any moisture inside the tube.



     


・ Maintaining the pads

1. If a pad is damp, insert a piece of cleaning paper between the pad and the tone hole to completely remove any moisture.

2. If the pad is sticky after wiping off the moisture, use a piece of powder paper to remove the stickiness.





・ Surface care

While being careful not to put pressure on the keys, use a polishing cloth to wipe off any fingerprints or oil from the surface.
